Matt Colapinto...
is the founder of the Aloha Beach Camp.
He started surfing at the age of 7 when his parents moved to Malibu.
He was in the junior lifeguard program at the age of 8 and started beach lifeguarding at the age of 15.
He has lived in Hawaii for 8 years after graduating from college with an elementary teaching credential.
He married a local Hawaiian gal whose passion is longboarding and windsurfing in Hawaii.
There they raised their two children until moving to San Clemente in 1997.
Matt and his wife are frequently seen surfing the local California breaks during a big swell.
Although he misses the high surf advisories of the North Shore, he still manages to enjoy himself
in the smaller surf.He is still working as a Beach lifeguard when he is not teaching Elementary
School, or running the Aloha Beach Camp.
His passion for teaching an experience in the ocean is combined into this program to provide
a safe and educational experience for all campers.

The other instructors are trained in lifeguarding skills and CPR.
They are experienced surfers, watermen and women.
Campers are divided into two groups: Surfing instruction has a 2:1 camper to instructor ratio
to provide a personal and safe experience.
Bodyboarding, bodysurfing, and beach activities are 5 to 1 camper to instructor ratio.
In addition to this ratio, the city of San Clemente City Lifeguards are
on duty during the working hours of Aloha Beach Camp.
Aloha Beach Camp is located at T-Street in San Clemente.
We are south of the main surfing and bodyboarding area. This sandy bottom creates an ideal learning environment for all campers.
You will find the Aloha Beach Camp canopy and equipment south of the overpass
near the southern bathrooms, and north of Lifeguard Tower 7.
This area can be viewed via the Internet on the surf camera provided by Surfline.com.
